My wife and I had decided to take part in this years Southern Sportive, even though we had completed this years London to Brighton bike ride back in June. We soon discovered that a Sportive ride is something completely different from a fun ride, with three routes laid out to test even the must hearty riders.

The morning started early at Churches College in Petersfield, with the elite rides starting their 155km route, shortly followed by the 112km riders, and then at 9:20 it was our turn to start the shorter 71km route.

I'm glad to say that we completed our 71km route in an official time of 3hr 51min, and are now planning on trying next years 112km Southern Sportive route after having such a great day.

Well done to all those riders who took part in this years Southern Sportive, and a big thank you goes out to the organisers at Trail Break who put on such a great event.
